Coaches - The Heart of Royals

Our volunteer coaches are essential to the success of Royals Netball Club. Each team relies on parents, players, and supporters stepping into these vital roles.


Coaching Roles to Suit Everyone:

  • Team Coach: Lead a team solo or share the role with another volunteer.
  • Assistant Coach: Support the main coach and help with team development.
  • Specialist Coach: Focus on specific skills, like shooting or passing, to boost performance.


Support for Coaches in 2025:
We’re dedicated to helping our coaches thrive with:

  • Pre-season Coach the Coaches workshops.
  • Dedicated mentors for each age group.
  • Access to online apps with skills and drills.
  • Support to complete Netball Australia accreditation.

Umpires - The Heart of the Game

At Royals Netball Club, umpires are the unsung heroes, ensuring every match runs smoothly, safely, and fairly. Umpiring goes beyond officiating - it’s about cultivating sportsmanship, supporting players, and contributing to the vibrant spirit of our netball community.


Who Can Join?
Anyone aged 13 or older can get involved, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced official.


Pathways to Umpiring Success:

  • Beginner Umpires: Start with mentored games to build confidence and progress to independent officiating.
  • Progressive Pathways: Work towards MDNA Silver and Gold Awards or pursue national accreditation.
  • Representative Opportunities: Nationally accredited umpires can officiate at events like MDNA rep carnivals, GBNL, State Age Championships, and more.


Why Become a Royals Umpire?

  • Mentorship from experienced umpires.
  • Training to master netball rules and techniques.
  • Development opportunities from beginner to national accreditation.

Managers - The Soul of Royals

The role of a Team Manager typically involves supporting the coach, acting as a liaison between the team and the club, and managing admin. tasks. Here are the key responsibilities:


General Responsibilities:


Communication:
  • Serve as the main contact point between the club, players, and parents.
  • Distribute information about training schedules, game details, and any updates (e.g., cancellations).

Uniform and Equipment:
  • Ensure players have the correct uniforms and equipment.
  • Manage the team’s kit bag (first aid supplies, bibs, balls) and ensure it is brought to training and games.

Game Day Tasks:

  • Collect and complete the scoresheet.
  • Arrange scorers and liaise with opposition team managers.
  • Ensure players adhere to dress codes (e.g., no jewellery and short nails).

Player Management:
  • Monitor player attendance and notify the coach of absences.
  • Manage borrowing players when needed, ensuring club rules are followed

Safety and Conduct
:
  • Ensure adherence to the club’s Code of Conduct for players, parents, and spectators.


Additional Tips:


  • Be familiar with wet weather policies and club resources (like websites or Facebook updates).
  • Support the coach during training sessions if needed.
  • Ensure proper communication channels are maintained to resolve issues promptly.

Royals Netball Club thrives because of the dedication and support of its volunteers. From coaching to managing teams, organising events, and helping with uniforms, volunteers ensure the smooth running of the club and create a vibrant, supportive environment for players to grow and thrive.


Why We Need You:
Volunteering is essential to keep our club running efficiently and to provide the best experience for our players. With over XXX  teams and countless moving parts, we rely on parents, guardians, and community members to fill roles that are vital to the club’s success.
